A new mobile application called ‘Places’ has launched in Dubai, offering an innovative platform for the city’s food and beverage businesses to reach customers and gain valuable market insights.

The app, which already hosts information on more than 10,000 restaurants, cafes, and bars in Dubai, aims to streamline the dining discovery process for consumers while providing businesses with a powerful tool to manage their digital presence.

Places was designed to address the fragmented nature of dining discovery in Dubai. Currently, consumers often have to navigate multiple platforms and channels to find the information they need before making a reservation.

The new app consolidates this process by allowing venues to display and manage their menus, prices, amenities, news, and offers in one convenient digital space.

“Places was conceived in Dubai with the vision to revolutionize how the dining industry engages its customers, and assist businesses in refining their offerings to cater to the ever-evolving needs of our dynamic city,” co-founder of Places, Mark Johnson, said in a media release on Monday.

The app offers three subscription tiers for businesses. The free ‘Places Essential’ subscription allows venues to control their page in real-time, updating menus, photos, and amenities. The ‘Places Pro’ subscription, starting from AED 8 per day, offers increased visibility and access to valuable analytics. The ‘Places Pro Sport’ subscription, priced from AED 10 per day, includes features specifically for venues showing sports events.

One of the key features of the Places Pro subscription is the ability for businesses to receive both public and private feedback from customers. This feature aims to foster a community environment where venues can engage with regular customers, identify team achievements, and quickly address any issues.

The app utilizes advanced technology to enhance user experience. It features an ‘open search’ function that allows for conversational-style free typing or voice commands. Geospatial technology ensures accurate results based on users’ locations, while an in-house built AI model enables complex, multi-criteria searches.

As Dubai’s dining scene continues to evolve and expand, Places appears poised to play a significant role in shaping how residents and tourists discover and engage with the city’s vast array of culinary offerings. The success of the app could potentially influence how similar platforms are developed in other major cities around the world.

Businesses interested in joining the Places community can sign up at www.placesuae.com/Business.html. As the platform grows, it will be interesting to see how it impacts the competitive landscape of Dubai’s thriving food and beverage industry.
