Dubai’s metro station renamed: Mashreq becomes InsuranceMarket on the red line

InsuranceMarket metro station

Mashreq metro station renamed to InsuranceMarket metro station.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai recently announced that Mashreq Metro Station will now be known as InsuranceMarket Metro Station. Previously named Sharaf DG until 2020, the station on Sheikh Zayed Road, located between Mall of The Emirates and Dubai Internet City on the red line, will carry this new name for the next 10 years.

Alfred, the mascot for InsuranceMarket, will now become a familiar sight for daily commuters using this stop. This marks the latest in a series of renaming’s for Dubai Metro stations. Mashreq took over the naming rights in 2020, and before that, Sharaf DG held the naming rights. It’s unclear whether Mashreq will acquire the naming rights to another station after this change.

From September to November 2024, the RTA will gradually update the station’s signage, including both outdoor and indoor directional signs. The new name will also be integrated into RTA’s smart systems, public transport apps, and onboard announcements.
